Abstract

The fracture susceptibility of chill-free permanent moulded cast iron is discussed in terms of graphite configuration. The details of fracture surface topography as revealed by scanning electron microscope examination on areas of slow crack growth and fast fracture are presented and the usefulness of these SEM fractographs in categorizing the fracture modes is demonstrated. © 1981 Indian Academy of Sciences.
