Abstract

Objectives: To explore the role of government regulations in enforcing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards and fostering corporate sustainability. To assess how regulatory frameworks, such as the Paris Agreement, EU Green Deal, and SEC climate disclosure rules, support sustainability integration in business operations.   Methods: Examining regulatory measures and their impact on corporate practices, focusing on how they influence organizational transparency and sustainability efforts. Studying the challenges businesses face in balancing profitability, innovation, and compliance with sustainability standards.   Results: Regulatory frameworks like the Paris Agreement, EU Green Deal, and SEC rules are essential in pushing businesses to adopt sustainable practices, enhance operational transparency, and reduce social and economic risks. Corporate responsibility arises from a combination of market demands from customers and investors, along with regulatory requirements. Companies face challenges in aligning business priorities with the need for sustainability, which may create operational difficulties or conflicts.   Conclusion: Effective corporate sustainability requires a comprehensive regulatory system that connects sustainability with economic development. Policymakers, businesses, and stakeholders must collaborate to create a regulatory framework that supports sustainability goals and addresses the challenges businesses face in implementing these standards.
