Abstract

This article is a sociological analysis based on empirical data of the link between deprivation of liberty and violence in prison. The deprivation of liberty is defined as a political philosophical concept which try to escape a positivist point of view. Violence is analysed through the social and political construction of the inmate based on fear and deprivation of a common space of action and speech.
