Abstract
The principal objective of the study was to analyze attitudes towards multicultural education in a group of Chileans student teachers. The design was exploratory, descriptive and correlational. Onehundred and seventeen individuals aged 17 to 33 participated and were given the Multicultural Education Scale of Attitudes (Cabrera, Espín, Marín & Rodríguez, 1997a). Results indicated that the selected instrument presented acceptable psychometric properties and the individuals' attitudes showed a favorable trend, with the exception of the variable named negative multiculturality. However, a significant number of individuals showed intermediate attitudes, which could indicate subtle prejudice. Better attitudes were observed among women and in individuals who have been associated with immigrants. © 2010 by Psykhe.
