Pituitary tumours

Abstract

Pituitary tumours present with over or under production of hormones, visual impairment or loss, headache, or as an incidental finding. Treatment of prolactinomas is medical, but the majority of pituitary tumours need surgery often followed by radiotherapy. Management is best conducted jointly by a neurosurgeon and an endocrinologist. Long term follow up is essential because these benign tumours can recur.
