Abstract

The introduction of High-Speed Rail (HSR) systems in different countries of the world has demonstrated to be a decisive solution for the sustainable development of the mobility and economic growth, and for the promotion of social inclusion. This paper aims to identify the main methodological approaches to evaluate travel demand induced by the presence of HSR services through a systematic review of the relevant scientific literature. The objective is the exploration of the proposed models and methodological gaps present in the existing research. The findings of this study provide a solid basis for future development in the study of induced demand generated by HSR services, suggesting necessary directions for the advancement of demand analysis methodologies, thus contributing to a more comprehensive analysis of the effects of high-speed rail systems.
