Abstract
The conductivity of a dielectric is reversibly increased by several orders of magnitude on a femtosecond timescale by exploiting the instantaneous electric field of intense few-cycle near-infrared laser pulses leading to measurable ultrafast electric currents. © 2013 The Optical Society.
