Abstract
The attacks of large carnivores on livestock are regularly in the news in France. The conservation of those species is very questionable because the concerned outlying territories are in social, economic, agricultural and ecological crisis-change. On one hand, the opponents of bear and wolf charge their protectors with a will to put an end to human activities in mountains. On the other hand, the environmentalists are pleased with the return of large carnivores witch embodies a regenerated nature. After the return of the wolf and the bear in France, we will analyse the different arguments. Then, we will come back to the explanations of an exaggerated reaction according to the true problems caused. We will finish with a paradox: although the species opponents link the conservation with anti-humanism, the solutions to make easier the coexistence are precisely to reassess the human presence in the agriculture of mountain territories. Indeed, the social and agricultural change made the reappearance of those animals more difficult.
