Abstract

This study is aimed to identify the characteristic of colonial house in Kudus constructed by Dutch and native people, during the industrialized period. The study clarified three groups of colonial house based on the period of the construction. The first and second groups exclusively belonged to and were constructed by the Dutch, while the third group were constructed by the local enterpreneurs to express their wealthy. Although at a glance those colonial houses look similar, later had been clarified in this study that there were no indication the third group had imitated from the previous two groups.
