Pemanfaatan Perpustakaan Digital (E-Library) Sebagai Salah Satu Strategi Peningkatan Kualitas Pendidikan dan Penelitian di Perguruan Tinggi

Abstract

The main problem discussed in this study is how the process of digitizing library services by utilizing information technology support, especially in the Polytechnic Astra Cikarang, where this is done to support and improve the quality of the learning process and also foster a research Culture for all academicians of Astra Polytechnic. The application of information technology-based services in the library, especially the information retrieval or search service section, is one form of progress, especially in the library. However, the implementation of technology at the U.P.T. Polytechnic Astra Library has not been appropriately utilized by users; where it was found that some students did not understand how to search library collections using information technology, namely the information management system and library management. Therefore, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of Polytechnic Astra, in collaboration with the Informatics Management Study Program, initiated the Digital Library (E-Library) service to improve the quality of academic services to all Academicians of Polytechnic Astra. In addition, traditional library services also need to change (transformation), especially in the current digitalization era. The use of information systems in libraries is also ultimately expected to help librarians and library staff manage book collections, membership and all transactions that occur in the library, so that librarians have more time to do other things and become more optimal in terms of time management.
