Abstract

New sports stadiums and arenas bring renewal and prosperity. So at least Londoners have been promised as construction for the 2012 Olympics transforms their neighbourhoods. Are there grounds for the promises? Dennis Coates and Brad Humphreys look at the evidence from North America and find many unjustified claims. © 2011 The Royal Statistical Society.
