O "social" nas mudanças climáticas

Abstract

Given the fact that the notion of Anthropocene deals with the effects of human action on climate and the effects of climate on life conditions on Earth, the article tackles the main axis of discussion of sociological dimensions of climate changes from the perspective of four subdisciplines: the sociology of social problems, the sociology of science, the sociology of controversies and the sociology of action. The author interrogates the meaning and place of the “social” in the studies currently elaborated by demand from international institutions involved with the treatment of climate changes in contrast with the richness of possibilities explored by sociological debate independent from governing bureaucratic requestsConsiderando que a noção de Antropoceno evoca as implicações da ação humana sobre o clima e os efeitos de retorno do clima sobre as condições de vida na Terra, o texto destaca os eixos de discussão sociológica no debate sobre mudanças climáticas tal como eles vêm sendo formulados na perspectiva de quatro subdisciplinas: a sociologia dos problemas sociais, a sociologia da ciência, a sociologia das controvérsias e a sociologia da ação. Seu objetivo é o de interpelar o sentido e o lugar do “social” nos estudos correntemente elaborados por solicitação das instituições internacionais envolvidas no tratamento das mudanças climáticas, contrastando-os com a riqueza das possibilidades do debate sociológico que independe das instâncias burocráticas de governo
