Abstract

Discusses the author's personal reflection of his professional development, interests, and involvement in cultural psychology. The author describes cultural syndromes as shared beliefs, norms, and values found among those who speak a particular language dialect, in a specific geographical region, during a particular historic period. The shared elements of subjective culture are organized around a theme, such as complexity, or the importance of the collective. The author cites examples of such syndromes.
