Abstract
The article examines moral injury in higher education, arguing that when educators act against their core values, shame, burnout, and loss of purpose erode teaching and learning. Topics include the link between moral injury and burnout, the role of naming and witnessing in healing, and cultivating moral courage and imagination to rehumanize academic life amid pressures such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence text-generation platform.
