Abstract

The excessive appropriation of natural resources is one of the causes of the current environmental crisis. The Water Footprint (WF) is an indicator that provides information on the impact of human activities on water and, therefore, has the potential to educate the individual on the proper management of this resource. Due to the fact that the investigations that calculate the WF in university contexts focus on the environmental and economic analysis of said indicator but not on making educational interventions, this research evaluates the WF of the staff of the Santiago de Cali University (USC) to promote responsible habits of water consumption through a pedagogical proposal. Using non-parametric tests, it calculates the WF of the university staff to design a primer, concluding that the content is valid to promote the responsible use of water at USC after being subjected to the judgment of experts
