Abstract
Nietzsche was a German philosopher and a cultural critic. He lived between 1844 and 1900. He was born in Röcken. His father died when Nietzsche was only 5, then the whole family relocated to Naumburg, where he grew up and studied philosophy. At the age of 24, Nietzsche became the youngest chair of classical philosophy at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Serving as the department chair, he produced numerous pieces of writing, spanning from cultural criticism and philosophy. In 1879, he quit his job at the university due to health problems and eventually, died of stroke and pneumonia in 1900. Main Contribution to Philosophy: He criticized some widely accepted thoughts in areas, such as traditional religion, morality, philosophy, and science, that were put forward by famous people. His typical thoughts comprise many aspects, including The Will to Power, Pluralism. These thoughts are based on his new understanding of human nature. In his point of view, traditional morality and metaphysics are not the truth, they are merely part of human nature. Nietzsche's thoughts have an extremely powerful impact, which subverts Western moral thinking and traditional values. There were many people affected by him, such as Sigmund Freud and Lu Xun. Main Works Most of his works are about insights into human nature, and his writing style is sharp and incisive. His first book, The Birth of Tragedy out of the Spirit of Music, contains astonishing insights. After he quit his job, he had more chances to develop his unique thoughts and write them in books. The Gay Science, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, and On the Genealogy of Morality, are the most mature and famous books of his. His works have had a profound impact on later generations.
