Abstract

This study was designed to assess the influence of ketone bodies on insulin and/or FFA release in response to rapid intravenous administration of NaAcAc. The results were used also to determine the disappearance rates of AcAc and β OHB from the blood, to calculate the volume of ketone body distribution, and to estimate rates of tissue uptake of ketone bodies in man during progressive starvation.
