Abstract

Suggests that a major concern for the sociology of aging and social gerontology is the lack of theoretical rigor. In an effort to deal with the lack of theory, the general social gerontology literature is reviewed from a Marxian perspective. Findings suggest that the Marxian framework can illuminate aspects of social gerontology that have been unexamined in both the academic and applied arenas. The Marxian framework seems able to provide theoretical linkages for key concepts in gerontology, such as health and life satisfaction. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
