Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of job insecurity and psychological well being. The study also aims to identify the effect of job insecurity on psychological well being in private sector companies in Damascus. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire developed for data collection. The researcher used (SPSS) to analyze the data. The study produced a series of results, the most prominent of which are: No significant effect of job insecurity on the dimensions of psychological well being (autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose of life, selfacceptance) for workers in the private sector companies in the city of Damascus, and there are significant effects of job insecurity on overall psychological well being for workers in the private sector companies in the city of Damascus. Moreover, the relationship between the dimensions of psychological well being (autonomy, positive relations with others, purpose of life, Self-Acceptance) and the lack of job security is a weak force, and the relationship between the dimensions of psychological well being (Environmental Mastery, personal growth) and the lack of job security is a medium force. Moreover, the relationship between the psychological well being and job insecurity is medium strength.
