Abstract

A gain stabilizing system for use with a scintillation counter is described. The system uses a small lamp (6977) as a stable reference to correct the gain of the photomultiplier and amplifier. A stabilizing factor of 330 was obtained. When used in conjunction with a multichannel analyzer calibrated for 15 keV per channel, gamma ray peaks at 34.10 and 85.41 channels (on the average) showed root-mean-square deviations of 0.05 and 0.04 channels, respectively for measurements made over a period of 23 hours. © 1962.
