Abstract
Magnesium-metal matrix composites (Mg-MMCs) are fascinating because of the significant role they may play in a wide range of applications after being reinforced with metals and ceramics to improve their mechanical characteristics and resistance to wear and corrosion. During the last decades, several effective technologies have been developed to manufacture Mg-MMCs with strong interfacial bonding and uniformly dispersed reinforcements, which ultimately leads to improved performance. The current study provides a rundown of the Mg composite reinforcements that are most commonly used, with a specific focus on the various classes of ceramics, as well as their influence on the microstructure characteristics and mechanical behaviour of Mg composite.
