Abstract

Idiotype-positive molecules induced by xenogeneic anti-idiotypes (anti-Id) to monoclonal anti-H-2 antibodies were studied using syngeneic anti-Id reagents. Syngeneic reagents detected idiotypes on both H-2 antigen-binding and nonbinding Id' induced by xenogeneic anti-Id. In addition, idiotopes were readily detected by syngeneic anti-Id on anti-H-2Kk antibodies induced by alloimmunization after xenogeneic anti-Id reagents interact with some of the same antibodies as syngeneic anti-Id and support the hypothesis that treatment with xenogeneic anti-Id may affect a physiologically important idiotypic network.
