Abstract
Purpose-The purpose of this study is to explore the development of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership(CPTPP), specifically on its implications for Chinese labor law reform and development, and explore the possibility of China joining CPTPP and the implications. Design/methodology/approach-This paper uses the labor chapter of CPTPP as the main body of analysis explicitly. Additionally, this paper conducted in-depth historical research on the composition and development of CPTPP. Findings-Drawing on the labor provisions of the agreement, Chinese labor law could assimilate the structure and content to its law reform, and joining CPTPP for China would bring a short-term shock to domestic society, but it will help China fully integrate with world labor standards in the future and provide more possibilities for China’s international trade. Research limitations/implications-Based on the analysis of the labor clause in the agreement, it brings great significance to the reform of China’s labor law and the improvement of labor regulations. In addition, if China chooses to join the CPTPP in the future, it will help China to shape its leadership in the international world. Originality/value-This research provides a in-depth research on the labor clause of a particular free trade agreement which provides developing country a more explicit way for international integration.
