Abstract
The mass spectra and fragmentation mechanism of 2- and 4-nitro and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazines and their N,N′ trideutero analogues are discussed with respect to the operation of an "ortho effect". The mass spectra of nitrophenylhydrazones of cyclohexanone, methyl cycolhexanones, and their deuterated analogues are discussed with reference to the fragmentation of the ketone portion of the molecule.
