Abstract

A clarification of the thermodynamic relationships in the ternary system Fe-Na-O at low oxygen potentials is presented. The Gibbs energy of the compound FeNa4O3 was evaluated from the enthalpy data and the phase diagram information available in literature by using the thermodynamic calculation program in the Thermo-Calc Databank System. The phase diagram of the Fe-Na-O ternary system was calculated at 853 K. An oxygen-sodium potential phase diagram of this system computed at the same temperature is also presented. © 1993, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
