Abstract
The thermal conductivity of ThO//2- UO//2 and ThO//2- CeO//2 systems were measured by a laser flash method, and the results are discussed with the aid of the relaxation- time theory. Two parameters characteristic to systems of the same base were determined experimentally from the measured thermal conductivity of the ThO//2- UO//2 system at 25 C. Using these parameters, the thermal conductivities were calculated. In the ThO//2- UO//2 system, the predominant contribution to the scattering cross section of phonons is the strain factor, while in the ThO//2- CeO//2 system, the contribution from the mass factor increases, which makes the thermal resistivity of the ThO//2- CeO//2 system higher than that of the ThO//2- UO//2.
