Abstract

This paper studies the determinants of the implementation of Foreign Banking in Spain, distinguishing the chosen installation form, Subsidiaries and / or Branches, and the crisis's effect, during the period 2000 to 2015. The data is analyzed using Panel Data. The results indicate that the variables related to the degree of integration between countries are the most determining. Stable origin countries are related to the legal form of Subsidiaries and bilateral foreign trade is not significant for the installation of Branches. The economic crisis has a negative impact on the number of Subsidiaries Offices, and positively on Branch Offices and on the number of FB Entities installed in Spain.
