Españolas y europeas en las redes transnacionales de solidaridad antifranquista (1960-1977)

Abstract

Based on archival and newspaper sources from Spain and other countries, this paper analyses the participation of women in Anti-Franco solidarity campaigns in Europe between 1960 and the amnesty of political prisoners in 1977. In these initiatives, Spanish women were involved either as proactive beneficiaries of solidarity, or as promoters of humanitarian campaigns, collaborating with European women and creating a dense network of exchanges to and from Spain. This process provided spaces in which female protagonists could participate in the international condemnation of Francoism and allowed many women to become involved in transnational networks in defence of human rights.
