Abstract

In connection with a case of dysplasia epiphysalis hemimelica, localized on the medial condyle of the right tibia and successfully treated by surgical intervention, the literature of this abnormality is reviewed. The etiological and pathogenetic factors are emphasized, and some concepts of the possible pathomechanism are outlined. In the authors' case, between the original epiphysis and the accessory epiphysis, a nearly normal cartilage was found.
