Abstract

Old age is a major social problem in many developed countries, and mainly in European countries. Turkey is expected to experience similar problems in the near future. The study examines the outlines of the state of old age and clarifies concepts. Research was made about old people’s problems and tested solutions, and branches of science related to old age. Experiences and information have been added to the study through small notes. Turkey and Eskişehir age group population for the year 2013 and the change of senior citizen population over years and by gender were studied. Life expectancy, especially women’s, have elongated in both Turkey and Eskişehir, as in all over the world. Elderly nursing home statistics in Turkey and Eskisehir were evaluated. The results of the survey indicate that old and young people live happily in mutual harmony in Eskişehir
