Abstract

Stomach cancer incidence rate for Greater Bombay was low when compared with Western countries. Gastric cancer frequency varied between regions within the country as well as between certain religious communities. Certain clinicopathological conditions, diet patterns and habits and their role in the etiology of this disease are described. Clinical features of the disease, treatment and end results are presented. It is felt that more studies and efforts are necessary to treat patients in the early stage of the disease and to identify high risk factors associated with gastric cancer.
