Abstract

The gendered nature of the migration process and immigrant women's experiences emerged as a research focus only in the early 1990s. This entry follows the evolution of this research domain and highlights the main intersections between gender, family roles, the labor markets, and women's exploitation and empowerment in different migration contexts.
