Abstract

The review examines and summarizes methods for determining the Lewis acidity of organoboron compounds. Insights into the challenges and future development towards scales of Lewis acidity for boron Lewis acids based on the thermodynamic (global), spectral (effective) and intrinsic methods also are provided. The main challenges arising from the application of data on the Lewis acidity of organoboranes for an explanation of their catalytic behavior are discussed.
