Antifungal efficacy of Eucalyptus globulus ethanolic extract on in vitro Candida albicans

Abstract

To evaluate the antifungal efficacy of Eucalyptus globulus on Candida albicans. Material and Method: An analytical, cross-sectional, prospective experimental study was carried out during 2018 in 60 plates with strains of Candida albicans in the National University of Trujillo. The sample, obtained by formula, was divided into 50 repetitions for the experimental group and 10 for the controls. Results: The inhibitory efficacy of Eucalyptus globulus on C. albicans showed no significant statistical difference compared to fluconazole (p> 0.05). The concentration of the extract at 100% purity, in terms of susceptibility to Candida albicans, showed no significant statistical difference with fluconazole. Conclusions:Eucalyptus globulus showed efficacy similar to fluconazole. The susceptibility of the extract was also similar to fluconazole only for the 100% concentration.
