Abstract

Pyrethroid insecticides are a large, structurally diverse class of compounds used for the control of a vast number of arthropod pests of medical and agricultural importance. Although pyrethroids suitable for field use were developed only about a decade ago, they now account for more than 25% of all insecticides sales. Pyrethroids are neurotoxins, which cause depolarization of neurons by interactions with the sodium channel.
