Optic atrophy induced by chloramphenicol

Abstract

A case of bilateral optic neuritis in a child aged 4 being treated with chloram-phenicol for bronchiectasis and fibrocystic disease of the pancreas is described. The literature is reviewed and the mechanism of the effect is discussed.
