Abstract

In recent years, Wabi-Sabi style has become popular in China's design industry. It is widely used in space design of home stay, catering, hotel and landscape. The reason for its popularity is that it is a combination of man, nature and artificial environment. This paper aims to explore on the interaction and symbiosis between environment and human in materialized representation and spiritual connotation in contemporary environmental art design by exploring the origin, concept, expression and aesthetic philosophy of Japanese Wabi-Sabi. The emphasis on "Wabi-Sabi" style design which is simple rather than dull is not only the the decoration and beautification of the environment, but also represents the the beauty of nothing after the denial of the universal concept of the beauty. Wabi-Sabi is not only a design style, but also the aesthetic cognition of the objective existence of the natural material world.
