Abstract

In this article, the author focuses on significance of the protests at the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota against construction of the Dakota Access utility pipeline for humanists. He states his feeling of kinship at Standing Rock, with people of different communities, and mentions that Standing Rock is part of an ongoing struggle against colonial violence. It notes that the pipeline's path runs through a gravesites and artifact sites that hold cultural significance for Sioux tribe.
