New methods in diagnosis and therapy in case of disorder in static foot function in rheumatoid arthritis patients

Abstract

W pracy przedstawiono problematykę związaną z obecnością zmian zniekształcająco-deformacyjnych stóp w przebiegu reumatoidalnego zapalenia stawów (RZS), z uwzględnieniem współczesnych metod diagnostycznych oraz postępowania terapeutycznego. Zmiany patologiczne w obrębie struktur anatomicznych stóp, będące wynikiem procesu zapalnego, prowadzą do upośledzenia funkcji motorycznych kończyn dolnych. Zaburzenia wydolności statycznej stóp należą do wiodących przyczyn niepełnosprawności oraz pogorszenia jakości życia chorych na RZS. Spośród współczesnych możliwości diagnostycznych na uwagę zasługuje badanie z wykorzystaniem komputerowej analizy plantokonturogramu, które umożliwia ocenę wydolności statycznej stóp oraz jest przydatne w prawidłowym planowaniu strategii terapeutycznej. Współczesna strategia postępowania polega na wczesnej interdyscyplinarnej terapii obejmującej edukację, fizjoterapię, zaopatrzenie ortopedyczne i leczenie operacyjne.The aim of the study was to present problems connected with foot deformations in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using modern methods in diagnosis and therapy. Pathological changes of the anatomical structures of feet, which are a result of the inflammatory process, lead to impaired motor function of the lower extremities. Disorders in static foot function are the most common cause of disability and worsening of quality of life in RA patients. The podoscopic examination is one of the most effective diagnostic methods which helps to evaluate static foot function and is useful in the process of planning the therapeutic intervention. The current treatment strategy is based on early, interdisciplinary therapy consisting of education, physiotherapy, orthopedic equipment and surgical treatment.
