Abstract

Public health institutions have the duty to promote health education, through policies focused on citizens seeking their literacy and participation to achieve their well-being, both individual and social. This study aims to know the presence, quality and level of promotion of education and the informative empowerment of the Basque Health Service website. Its last two versions have been analyzed, that of 2017 and 2020 –total 1277 pages–, through a file that collects the structure and form of the information, the functions of the language, the usability of the content and the audience to which it is addressed. The change of web produces an increase in the dissemination of content that informs, educates and establishes bridges for participation. In conclusion, the messages that seek both to inform and educate in health and to promote social empowerment, take on greater communicative relevance in the new website.
