Abstract

A new 16-membered lactone named protylonolide was isolated from the culture of the blocked mutant of Streptomyces fradiae, KA-427. Protylonolide was converted to tylosin by both parent strain and several tylosin-non-producing mutants of KA-427. Protylonolide is an important biosynthetic intermediate of tylosin. © 1980, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
