Abstract

Sexual violence is an alarming public health problem that affects the Peruvian society. The situation of this problem is reviewed in terms of its characterization, incidence in the country, and conditions in which this problem develops. Then, the impact of this problem on the society as a whole is reviewed, as well as the impact on mental health. Subsequently, important actions to consider in the approach to the prevention and elimination of sexual violence are analyzed, understanding that the problem requires a multisectoral intervention, considering sociocultural, biological, social and legal aspects.
