Abstract
Some aspects of sulphur metabolism and its role in ruminant nutrition are presented in this text. In particular, the production of sulphide and its absorption from the rumen, the incorporation of sulphur into microbial protein, the metabolic interrelations of sulphur with other elements, the recycling and toxicity of sulphur, the excretion of sulphur, and the nitrogen and sulphur retention are reviewed. © 1984.
