The choice of the appropriate interpolation method is essential to obtain reliable spatial maps. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the efficiency of regionalised data interpolation by Ordinary Kriging and Inverse Distance Weighted in the population estimates of Zaprionus indianus (Diptera: Drosophilidae). In the Fruitculture Sector in Polytechnic College of the Federal University of Santa Maria during the period 23 September 2009 to 4 October 2011 were listed 19 monitoring points, this divided into eight sub-periods corresponding to the seasons. The average values of captures were submitted to the Inverse Distance Weighted and Ordinary Kriging interpolation, they are evaluated from the cross-validation. Both interpolation methods underestimate the population of Z. indianus. The Ordinary Kriging interpolation is more efficient for regionalised data to estimate the population of Z. indianus.
