Abstract
A simple, quick and sensitive method was used to detect telomerase activity in Plasmodium falciparum. The telomeric repeat amplification protocol (TRAP assay) was modified using electrophoresis and staining with SYBR-green I to detect telomerase activity in a range of 102 to 107 parasites. This might be a useful way to ascertain telomerase activity in different types of nontumor cells.
