Abstract
Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus) are an important genetic resource for Indonesia's beef industry due to their adaptability to tropical environments, resilience, and efficient reproductive performance. Contributing approximately 26.92% to national beef production, these cattle are highly valued for their efficient feed conversion, high fertility, and early maturity. This study aimed to analyze the growth patterns of male Bali cattle using the Gompertz non-linear growth model, utilizing data from 256 cattle aged 0-730 days. The results indicated an asymptotic mature weight of 423.99 kg, higher than previously reported for this breed. The inflection point, where maximum growth occurs, was estimated at 155.98 kg at approximately 398.54 days (13 months), marking the optimal time for intensified nutritional support. The gradual growth pattern, characteristic of Bali cattle, reflects adaptation to variable feed quality in tropical regions. The Gompertz model demonstrated high accuracy in predicting growth, providing valuable insights into cattle management and feeding strategies. Identifying the inflection point offers a practical tool for optimizing production by adjusting nutrition and management during critical growth phases. This model not only helps to forecast growth but also assists in the selection of high-performing cattle and enhances the efficiency of livestock production. The findings underscore the importance of advanced growth curve models in improving Bali cattle productivity and ensuring the sustainable development of Indonesia's beef industry.
