Abstract
Dust formulations of BHC [HCH] plus sulfur, DDT plus sulfur, carbaryl plus sulfur, endosulfan, phosalone, quinalphos, parathion, phenthoate and Sevithion [carbaryl, with parathion-methyl] at 30 kg/ha were tested for the control of aphids, jassids [cicadellids], thrips and bollworms (Earias vittella and Pectinophora gossypiella) on cotton in Maharashtra, India, during 1978-79. Phosalone and Sevithion gave high mortality of aphids (95.08 and 96.37%, resp.), while carbaryl plus sulfur gave the best control of cicadellids (95.21%). Phosalone, carbaryl plus sulfur, quinalphos and endosulfan were the most effective treatments against E. vittella, and endosulfan, Sevithion and carbaryl plus sulfur were the most effective against P. gossypiella. The greatest yields were recorded following treatment with carbaryl plus sulfur, Sevithion and endosulfan (1511.66, 1183.33 and 1126.66 g/3.602).
