Abstract

This paper examines the influence of financing on the performance of artisanal microenterprises in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. Surveys and semi-structured interviews were applied to key actors of local development and artisan entrepreneurs between January and February 2017. Results suggest that, although loans contribute to the performance of the businesses, these coexist with other factors which influence their performance such as leadership and the social problems and context of the localities where they are located.
