Abstract

Two hundred and one days old, unsex broilers were used in the current study to investigate the potential of irradiated chitosan for improving histological liver, included histological condition and the activities of liver cells biochemical. Chitosan isolated from shrimp chitin using a chemical technique. The sample of broiler assigned to four groups, with five replication and each treatment group consisted of fifty of broilers. There were four treatments with supplemental irradiated chitosan (IC) by drinking water, as follow L0=without of IC; L1= IC of 300 ppm. L-1 of drinking water; L2= IC of 350 ppp.L-1 of drinking water and L3= IC of 400 ppp.L-1 of drinking water. The liver tissue samples collected using the fixative solution, and the liver samples used to determine the liver histological parameters (necrosis, apoptosis, acute inflammation, fat degeneration, hemorrhagic, hydropic degeneration) by a Mallory-asan technique, using a histological kit. The result of the current study showed that overall results indicated a significant treatment effect (P<0,05) for increasing the liver histological condition. The IC of 400 ppm can be improved the liver histologic with reduced necrosis of 31cells from 103 cells without IC. In similarly, decreased apoptosis, acute inflammation, fat degeneration, hemorrhagic, hydropic degeneration, also showed a significant with the administration of 400 ppm of IC. Based on the results of this study, The IC can reduce the damage to liver cells, and this result is an excellent indication as a biological condition in increasing the metabolic rate and performance of broilers.
