Abstract

Bondarzewia zonata, collected from North Sikkim, is proposed here as new to science. It is characterized by basidiomata with strong zonate pilei, thin context turning persistent dark red with guaiacol, comparatively small spores with narrow ornamented ridges, and an absence of cystidioles. A detailed description coupled with macro-and micromorphological illustrations of this species is provided. Its relation to the allied species is discussed and a provisional key to the species of Bondarzewia is given.
